What’s in the air you breathe?

In high enough concentrations, air pollution poses a risk to our personal health as well as the environment.

In the UK, it is estimated that air pollution is responsible for more than 40,000 deaths per year. Cities are the worst affected areas where pollution caused by traffic frequently exceeds recommended limits.

The air inside your home can also be dangerous.

Causes of indoor air pollution include particulate matter, such as moisture build up, mould, bacterial growth, cigarette smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), asbestos and lead. VOCs are found in common household products such as paints, paint strippers, wood preservatives, wax, pesticides, aerosol sprays, carpets and many cleaning products.

This is all in combination with outdoor pollution entering the home, which is particularly relevant when close to major roads or in cities.
